Have you ever had a craving for a food you can no longer eat, and it is so strong it is calling your name?

Every time we go out to eat, there they are, staring me in the face.  Stuffed shrimp, loaded baked potatoes, Cheeseburgers……ok, I am making myself crazy.

But I have found out that even if you have dairy, gluten or other allergies or intolerances, the sky IS the limit.  I have been able to find gluten and dairy free recipes for nearly every food imaginable.  If you have decent cooking skills, there is nothing stopping you.  Even if you don’t there are still options.  Most of the work is done for you as far as ingredient substitutions and measurements.  If you can read a recipe, you can cook.   Start a group, grab a friend and warm up that oven!

These are only a few of the millions of recipes you can find online.

I recently finished watching season six of Master Chef.   Very inspiring-even though I cannot eat most of what they were cooking, I learn a lot of techniques.  As you know , Gordon Ramsey is known for his Beef Wellington.  I wondered, is there a gluten free, dairy free way to make puff pastry?  Yes!  I found several recipes.  Puff pastry is usually made with butter but there is a technique called “rough pastry” that eliminates all the steps and also the butter folding.  The gluten free version is made the same way but with butter and flour substitutes.

It is still quite involved-I am looking into making this fabulous dish.  Once I have made it, I will post a blog about it.  This will truly challenge me and my cooking skills.

My point here is, don’t limit yourself.  Take a cooking class, watch some Youtube videos, read up on recipes, and above all, don’t give up!   Failure ultimately leads to success.
